Getting Moodle going on a server is easy, so why use a hosting company?
- Running a server costs time and money.
- Maintaining a server costs time and/or money.
- Securing student data is a concern you should not take lightly.
- Thus, extra security costs time and/or money.
- Backups take time and/or money.
- Ensuring someone keeps it going on weekends takes time and/or money (or a teacher with a temp contract)
- Guaranteeing professional hosting (24/7/365) is typically not practical for school districts.
